So since we got home from the conventions, everyone has been asking me which one I liked better, the DNC or the RNC. All I can really say is that, well, I learned a lot! Both parties definitely impressed me in their own ways.
In Denver, we saw some really cool performances and I got to meet all kinds of celebrities from entertainers to some of our Democratic governors! I uploaded tons of pictures from both conventions onto our Facebook, where you can see Ravi and me with some very influential people we met there. The hype just built and built until the end of the week. Seeing Hillary speak in the beginning of the week and Obama by the end was just amazing. He had the stadium packed with 75,000 people! We went to an awesome event for Rock the Vote in Denver, and when we got to the Twin Cities in Minnesota, they had an event there too. The RNC took a bit of a hit from Hurricane Gustav when we first got there, and we were nervous that we wouldn't be able to see McCain speak in St. Paul. Luckily, the storm calmed down by the end of the week, and we got to see him a night early. After Sarah Palin spoke on Wednesday, John McCain suprised the whole crowd when he came out on stage. We had great seats in the convention both nights for Palin's speach and for McCain's.
After hearing both candidates speak live at their conventions, I have a lot to consider before the elections. It was a privilege to have had the opportunity to see both, especially while I am learning about politics and preparing for my first election. What better way to educate myself on the issues? Given everything I learned and observed, now I just have to decide who I am voting for!
Hi everyone! This is Antonella. I am really excited about this election season! I am learning so much about cutting-edge technology, how it's impacting campaigns, and the different ways you can participate in our elections this year. Like so many of you, I didn't use to use these tools at all to engage myself, but thanks to all of you, I found out the internet can really get your name out there!
So I am using my American Idol experience to help others engage themselves in American politics this year. It was a crazy idea when I met the CEO of ElectionMall, Ravi Singh. I asked him, "Do you really want me to work for you?" He was all for it, given the fact that I live in DC and that so many people who are committed to helping people register to vote don't necessarily tell anyone how to participate beyond registering.
Well, like many of you, I didn't even have a blog, or a blackberry, so I did not start out very technically savvy. Now I am learning how to do this, but I still haven't made up my mind on who to vote for. Any ideas?
I will be posting videos and stories from the campaign trail, and it would be great to hear from all of you. Please visit my webpage, www.Antonella.voterspace.com, where you can contact me anytime. Please tell me what you think!
See ya on the campaign trail!
